Taku Kwan Dancers from Atlin BC:
Taku Kwan means Taku Peaple dancers, and comes from the Taku River Tlingit First Nation at Atlin, northern BC. The dance group was started in 1994, and has many dancers including a children’s group called the Children of the Creator - only a small subgroup will participate at the FNHM Conference. They have performed at the largest events in the north such as the Tlingit gathering every two years in Alaska which brings in more than 2,000 people, and also at the Canada Winter games. Taku Kwan has also performed at community achievement events in Victoria BC, and the Atlin Music Festival every year. The group has five clans: Wolf, Raven, Beaver, Frog and Eagle.
